Origin

This exceptional Red Catuai comes from Hacienda Sonora farm, located in the Central Valley of Costa Rica at the foot of the world-famous Poás Volcano.

At an average altitude of 1,200 meters, the coffee trees grow in nutrient-rich, volcanic soil. Surrounded by exotic trees and lush vegetation, this unique terroir offers excellent conditions for outstanding coffee quality.

Preparation & Harvesting

The coffee is processed using the Honey method, which gives it its special characteristics. The cherries of the Red Catuai variety grow in a diverse ecosystem, which is favored by the chemistry of the rich soil. The result of this careful processing is an iconic profile: a balanced body with a light acidity.

The Philosophy

Hacienda Sonora takes an approach that puts nature conservation at its core: Of the farm's total 100 hectares, 35 hectares have been preserved as wild forest.

This diverse ecosystem serves as a refuge for numerous bird and animal species and promotes sustainable agriculture. The farm's philosophy directly links the preservation of biodiversity with the production of high-quality specialty coffee.

Hacienda Sonora impressively demonstrates how quality and ecological responsibility go hand in hand. We chose this coffee not only because its complex flavor profile with notes of watermelon and cocoa powder convinced us, but also because of the rainforest protection on the farm. With this coffee, we support a production that actively contributes to the preservation of a valuable ecosystem.
